In a world where violence has become casual, I often find myself thinking about the smallest and most ignored living beings around us. A tiny insect crushed under a shoe rarely becomes a matter of thought or concern. But for me, every living being — no matter how small — carries life, fear, pain, and a right to exist.
I have never intentionally killed a cockroach or any living creature in my life, and I never will.
Many people laugh when they hear this. Some think it is impractical or overly emotional. But spirituality has taught me something deeper — life is not measured by size, beauty, intelligence, or usefulness to humans. Life itself is sacred.
A cockroach may look unpleasant to us. We may fear it, dislike it, or want it out of our homes. But from its perspective, it is simply trying to survive. It did not choose its form. It did not choose to be hated. It was also created by the same universe, the same divine force, the same God who created humans.
Then who are we to decide that its life has no value?
As a child, I remember seeing people casually crushing insects without a second thought. Somewhere deep inside, it disturbed me. I would wonder — if this tiny being could speak, wouldn’t it also cry for mercy? Wouldn’t it also want to live?
Over the years, spirituality strengthened this feeling within me. Whether through meditation, observation of nature, or understanding the teachings of compassion found in many spiritual traditions, I realized that non-violence is not limited to humans. True spirituality reflects in how we treat the weakest and most powerless beings around us.
Compassion cannot be selective.
If we preach kindness but destroy helpless creatures for convenience, then our humanity becomes incomplete. The way we treat voiceless beings says a lot about our inner consciousness.
I am not claiming perfection. Sometimes insects die accidentally in daily life, and modern living itself affects nature in countless ways. But intentionally harming or killing for satisfaction, anger, fear, or habit has never felt right to me.
Whenever I see a cockroach, insect, bird, or stray animal struggling to survive, I see life fighting for existence — just like humans do.
Today, society is becoming increasingly aggressive. Hatred, trolling, violence, and intolerance are growing everywhere. Perhaps the healing of humanity will not begin through big speeches or politics. Maybe it begins with small acts of empathy — with learning to value even the tiniest forms of life.
At Go Spiritual, we often speak about consciousness, compassion, coexistence, and inner awakening. These are not just philosophical words. They should reflect in our everyday behavior.
If we can learn to respect even a tiny creature’s right to live, perhaps we can also learn to become kinder human beings.
The Earth does not belong only to humans.
We are sharing this planet with millions of species, all playing their role in the balance of existence. We may consider ourselves more intelligent, but intelligence without compassion becomes dangerous.
A cockroach may never understand human politics, religion, or social divisions. It simply wants to live.
And maybe, somewhere, that simple desire to live is what connects all beings equally.
So no, I have never intentionally killed a cockroach or any living being in my life. And I never will.
Because life — every life — matters.
