Damoh, Madhya Pradesh – As temperatures soar to 44-45°C in Damoh, turning the streets into furnaces, a group of compassionate hearts has stepped forward to protect the voiceless. Team Umeed has launched a beautiful and spiritually uplifting campaign titled “Mitti Ka Sakore – Jeevan Ki Dor” (Clay Pot – Thread of Life), offering relief to birds battling severe dehydration and heatstroke.
On Sunday morning at 7 AM, volunteers from Team Umeed gathered at Belatal Park and began hanging traditional clay pots (sakores) on tree branches, filling them with fresh water. The initiative aims to provide easy access to drinking water for birds during the extreme summer.
The team has set an ambitious target of installing 1,000 clay pots across Damoh city to help maximum number of birds survive this brutal heatwave.

Harish Patel, founder of Team Umeed and Swachhata Brand Ambassador, said: “When humans find it difficult to step out even with air conditioners and coolers, one can only imagine the suffering of birds under the open sky. Many young birds faint and fall due to extreme heat. This thought inspired us to start ‘Mitti Ka Sakore – Jeevan Ki Dor’. A small clay pot can become a thread of life for these innocent creatures.”
The campaign is not a one-day event. Team Umeed plans to continue installing pots every day across different areas of the city and motivate citizens to place water vessels on their rooftops, balconies, and nearby trees.
Sushil Namdev, District Coordinator of Jan Abhiyan Parishad, who participated in the drive, remarked: “It is our collective responsibility to care for nature and speechless creatures during this severe heat. By arranging water, we are not only saving lives but also expressing our love and respect for all living beings.”
Nancy Jatav from the women’s wing of Team Umeed appealed to the public: “Anyone who wishes to contribute can donate clay pots. Our team will personally install them at suitable locations to help the birds.”

Other active volunteers included Rakesh Rathore, Dharmendra Soni, Shivam Soni, Mahendra Singh Lodhi, Jitendra Ahirwar, Madhav Patel, Brijesh Sen, Mahendra Tamrakar, Krishna Patel, Ankit Lahri, Vishal Paliwal, Shankar Gautam, and several others. Officials from NIC and local administration also extended their support.
Local residents highly appreciated the initiative, with one citizen saying, “One small clay pot… can save the life of a bird.”
From the perspective of Go Spiritual News, this campaign is far more than an environmental effort — it is a living example of Jeev Daya (compassion for all living beings), selfless service, and spiritual consciousness in action. In the Sanatan tradition, protecting and serving helpless creatures is considered a sacred duty that brings divine blessings.
Team Umeed’s heartfelt initiative reminds us of the eternal truth: “The one who protects other living beings is protected by the Divine.”
Go Spiritual News Magazine & App appeals to all readers to support this noble cause in their own cities and neighborhoods. A small clay pot, a little water, and a sensitive heart — this is true spirituality in practice.
