Mumbai, October 29, 2024 – Astrologer and Vedic scholar Chimmma Jee, also known as Pandit Chandramohan Chakrapani, has come forward with an appeal to celebrate Diwali on October 31 this year, presenting compelling insights from ancient Hindu scriptures. According to his study of sacred texts like the “Sheeghra Bodh” and the “Skanda Purana,” observing Diwali on November 1 would conflict with traditional astrology and lead to inauspicious results for wealth and prosperity.
Chimmma Jee references verses from the “Sheeghra Bodh” by the revered Daivagya Kashinath Bhattacharya, which caution against celebrating Diwali when the Amavasya (New Moon) overlaps with the Pratipada (first lunar day). He quotes, “If Pratipada is observed during Deepotsav (Diwali) celebrations, it must be avoided just as one avoids inauspicious circumstances.” Similarly, the text advises that auspicious festivals like Diwali, Raksha Bandhan, and Holi should not coincide with Pratipada, warning of potential loss of wealth.
The Vedic texts are clear: “Amavasya overlapped with Pratipada is inauspicious for performing Lakshmi puja (worship of the goddess of wealth), as it can lead to loss of wealth and cause societal upheaval.”
Chimmma Jee draws attention to the Vaishnava Khanda of the “Skanda Purana,” which explicitly states that festivals celebrated under overlapping Pratipada lead to negative financial outcomes. He elaborates, “This year, with the Amavasya Vidhi (auspicious timing) occurring on October 31, Diwali puja is best conducted that evening to avoid the influence of Pratipada on November 1, which could disrupt the wealth and prosperity traditionally associated with this festival.”
Pandit Chimmma Jee believes observing Diwali on October 31 aligns with traditional practices, enabling households to celebrate without adverse effects. This guidance has already sparked interest and discussions within various communities, with families opting to observe Diwali on October 31, honoring the ancient wisdom passed down through generations.
Astrology and religious scholars have begun sharing Chimmma Jee’s findings widely, encouraging devotees to preserve this auspicious timing.
