Ujjain, June 5, 2025
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav hailed Madhya Pradesh as a state brimming with immense possibilities, blessed with nature’s abundant love and strategically located at the heart of India. Speaking at the inauguration of the main session of the Spiritual and Wellness Summit-2025 in Ujjain, marked by the sacred chants of Vedic mantras and the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, Dr. Yadav highlighted the state’s unparalleled potential. The event, coinciding with Ganga Dussehra and World Environment Day, celebrated Madhya Pradesh’s rich natural and spiritual heritage.

Dr. Yadav emphasized the state’s robust infrastructure, including excellent air connectivity, an extensive rail network, and highways that seamlessly connect Madhya Pradesh to every corner of the country. He noted that recent developments, such as the inauguration of Satna and Datia airports by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have further strengthened these facilities.
The Chief Minister underscored the synergy between India’s cultural ethos and its growing global appeal, stating that Indian traditions, rooted in reverence for nature, promote a lifestyle that prevents ailments rather than merely treating them. Madhya Pradesh is taking bold steps to become a medical hub, with initiatives like the establishment of a Medicity in Ujjain, where 25 acres of land have been allocated for a medical college at a nominal cost of ₹1. The state is also extending full support to the private sector for hospital operations.
Investment Opportunities and Industry Focus
Declaring 2025 as the “Industry Year,” Dr. Yadav highlighted efforts to boost investment through events like the Regional Industry Conclave, Global Investors Summit, and sector-specific summits. With 18 investor-friendly policies, the state has streamlined investment processes, attracting proposals worth over ₹30 lakh crore and creating opportunities for more than 21.4 lakh jobs. Incentives, including ₹5,000 per employee for job-generating enterprises, are being offered to further encourage investment.
Madhya Pradesh’s power surplus status, peaceful environment, skilled workforce, excellent infrastructure, and rich spiritual and natural sites make it an ideal destination for investments in spiritual and wellness tourism. Dr. Yadav invited investors to seize these opportunities, assuring customized policy support for proposals exceeding ₹100 crore.
NIPER’s Role and Spiritual Investments
A significant milestone at the summit was the exchange of an MoU between the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) and MPIDC, with NIPER set to serve as a knowledge partner for Ujjain’s Medicity. The event also featured short films showcasing Madhya Pradesh’s natural, cultural, and spiritual heritage, with a special focus on Ujjain’s religious significance.
Renowned spiritual leader Swami Chidanand Saraswati of Parmarth Niketan praised Madhya Pradesh as a “beautiful land with everything to offer.” He expressed gratitude to CM Dr. Yadav for Ujjain’s transformative development, particularly the grandeur of Mahakal Lok, which has become a must-visit destination for pilgrims completing the Char Dham Yatra. Swami Saraswati presented a letter of intent to establish spiritual and wellness centers near Omkareshwar and Mahakaleshwar, urging investors to capitalize on the upcoming Simhastha 2028, which is expected to draw millions of tourists from across the globe.
Tourism Potential and Policy Reforms
Chief Secretary Anurag Jain highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s conducive environment for tourism, citing its jungles, wildlife, sacred rivers, and iconic religious sites like Mahakal and Omkareshwar—two of India’s twelve Jyotirlingas. The state boasts 18 of India’s 62 UNESCO heritage sites and well-preserved royal estates transformed into heritage properties. Indore, recognized as India’s cleanest city, rivals Western standards of cleanliness, further enhancing the state’s appeal.
Jain emphasized the state’s investor-friendly policies, including financial assistance, infrastructure support, and streamlined permissions through the Right to Public Service Delivery System. Principal Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Shivshekhar Shukla, reported a surge in tourist arrivals, from 8.87 crore in 2019-20 to 13.33 crore in 2024-25, with four of the top five destinations—Ujjain, Maihar, Chitrakoot, and Amarkantak—being religious hubs. Policy reforms have reduced the number of required permissions from 28-30 to just 10, with the entire process now online and time-bound. Subsidies of 15-30% (up to ₹90 crore) and a land bank of over 900 hectares further incentivize tourism investments.
Vision for the Future
Principal Secretary, Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion, Raghavendra Kumar Singh, emphasized that under Dr. Yadav’s leadership, Madhya Pradesh is blending its cultural and spiritual heritage with modern development. The state’s high growth rate in wellness tourism positions it as a prime destination for spiritual and wellness investments. Discussions at the summit’s panel session focused on collaboration models and preparations for Simhastha 2028, ensuring the preservation of the state’s heritage alongside its development.
The event was attended by Minister of State for Skill Development and Employment Gautam Tetwal, MP Anil Firozia, MLA Anil Jain Kalukheda, Ujjain Municipal Corporation President Kalavati Yadav, and a large number of investors, including Bhandari Group Chairman Vinod Bhandari, who highlighted Ujjain’s medical tourism initiatives.
Madhya Pradesh, with its blend of spirituality, nature, and modernity, stands poised to lead India’s spiritual and wellness tourism sector, inviting global investors to be part of its transformative journey.
