Today is the death anniversary of the Spiritual iconic leader of India, Swami Vivekananda who passed away on 4th July 1902 in Calcutta. The prominent spiritual leader’s life journey is inspiring even after so many years. Born in 1863 and died at the young age of 39, Swami Vivekananda is believed to have attained Mahasamadhi on 4th July 1902 at 8.50 PM while he was practicing meditation in his room. His punyatithi or death anniversary is observed every year by people and his followers all around the globe for the influential impact he has left on this world in such a short duration of his lifespan.
Every year, people also observe the 12th of January as Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary in the form of National Youth Day. This year too, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his views on Twitter on his birth anniversary stating how Swami Vivekananda’s life was devoted to national regeneration and encouraging several youngsters to work towards the betterment of the country. Let us understand why Swami Vivekananda has been adored by many for more than 150 years.
Swami Vivekananda was inclined towards spirituality from a tender age. He was highly motivated by the teachings of his guru Ramakrishna through whom he understood that all living beings were forms of the divine self and thus if one wants to serve God, it can be done through serving humanity. After the death of Ramakrishna, in the quest for truth and knowledge, Swami Vivekananda toured different parts of the Indian subcontinent and foreign nations where he shared his views on Hindu philosophy, thus getting the titles of a Patriotic Saint and Spiritual Leader.
Some of the well-known movies made as a tribute to Swami Vivekananda include The Light: Swami Vivekananda, Swamiji (1949), Swami Vivekananda (1955), Birieswar Vivekananda (1964), Spiritual Joy, Swami Vivekananda (1998), Life and Message of Swami Vivekananda (1964), among others. It showcases the spiritual journey and interesting life facts of Vivekanandaji.
Here we share with you some inspiring quotes from Swami Vivekananda to lead a bright life.
1) “Never hesitate from taking risks in life. You will either win or lose but if you lose then you will learn”.
Explanation: Risk-taking is not everyone’s cup of tea, as it involves courage and boldness to deal with failures that may come with risks as well. But you will learn many interesting things when you take risks and either succeed or fail. You can lead others if you achieve your goals by taking risks or you can guide others if you have tasted failure in the journey.
2) “You cannot believe in God unless you believe in yourself.”
Explanation: God is in various forms and every spiritual person has a different way of looking at God’s powers, miracles, and magic. But if you really want to know who God is, don’t go by others’ versions, just trust your own self, accept the way you are, become confident in your journey in life, and eventually, you will start realizing the divine version of yourself.
3) “Talk to yourself at least once a Day, otherwise, you may miss a meeting with an EXCELLENT person in this World”.
Explanation: We are so much surrounded by ideas, information, and opinions of others that we fail to self-reflect on ourselves. If you really want to know what you want in life, then you have to fix an appointment every day with the most important person in your life and that is none other than YOU – YOURSELF.
